The Word Made Flesh

Recently, I was discussing scripture with someone and once again I heard, the “Old Testament” is done away with.

I remember the first time I heard a friend say that it was no longer relevant and that we only needed the “New Testament”. Having been raised Jewish until a bit after my parents’ divorce, this didn’t sit well with me. Especially if Christianity was supposed to have been built on it.

How could Christians have this faith at all, if it wasn’t for the prophecy of the Messiah? And the one we call Messiah certainly thought the “Old Testament” was still valid and important.

We read in John 1:14

“And the Word became flesh, and did tabernacle among us, and we beheld his glory, glory as of an only begotten of a father, full of grace and truth.” -YLT

“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.” -ESV

We call Yeshua/Jesus the Word. He is the scripture made flesh. What was that scripture? The “Old Testament”. If that is done away with and irrelevant, then Yeshua cancelled himself out. Talk about cancel culture.

The fact is, it is just as relevant and important today as it was then. He is just as valid now as He was then.
